Maria Oliverio (nee Cimino)

Maria Oliverio (nee Cimino) aged 87, Mamma, Nonna, bis-Nonna passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 with her hands held tightly by her family. Predeceased by her beloved husband Francesco in 2006 whom she has now happily joined. She is survived by her children Giovanni,Antonio, Maria Teresa and grandchildren, Francesco (Sophia) and great-grandson Mateo, Maria (Michael), and Christina and many relatives and friends both in Canada and Italia. Our Mamma taught us humility and grace, and that there is nothing more important in life than famiglia and amore. We will celebrate her life today and always. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 25, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel 4276 Hastings St. Burnaby. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 27, 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 2025 Napier St. Vancouver. Entombment to follow at the South Mausoleum, Ocean View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her nephew who is a missionary in Africa, to help build a village: Attention: Fr. Battista Cimino, Stella Cometa Vancouver, 4641 Fairlawn Drive, Burnaby, B.C. V5C 3R5.

8th Annual Memorial Masses

Over 1000 people attended the 8th annual Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel Memorial Masses in Vancouver and Burnaby. The first Mass was celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croation Church, followed by the second Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church and the third Mass at St. Helen’s Church. Small gold angel pins were given out to all that attended in remembrance of their loved ones. Names of all Catholic deceased individuals that Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel served from November 1, 2007 – October 31, 2008 were read out prior to the start of the Masses at Our Lady of Sorrows Church and St. Helen’s Church. The Slavin family and staff would like to thank the many families that attended. Special thanks to the priests, sisters and Choirs that made each of the evening Masses very special. Receptions followed each Mass and was very appreciated by all. These Masses give families the opportunity to remember and pray for their loved ones that have passed away over this past year.
