Dear Olive,So so sorry to har of Ginos passing.I just had to write and tell you that some of my fondest memories of my life were with BBY hospital working. The best part was the peaple i had the pleasure of working with. There were good peaple great peaple, then the BEST Peaple, Gino and yourself are the BEST of the BEST. Not only the good times but some of the not so good times.you were there for the residents and patient but for most of my Staff as well. The hours and hours yourself and Gino lovingly put in almost makes me want to cry.You guys were not only the most caring, devoted community minded individuals i have met but the most reliable volunteers i have ever met. or had the pleasure of working with both before and after Burnaby Hospial. if God needs a couple of special Volunteers to due some fun jobs, but some one to due some not so fun ones he will call apon the best and that would be you two.I have heard our lord needs some advice on his heating cooling and air conditioning and pluming problems, He now has one of the BEST of the BEST to advise him. may God be with Gino, yourself and the rest of your wonder full family.

  10. Penny Gray on January 26th, 2012 6:18 pm

I was saddened to learn of Gino’s death. He used to come into Sunbeam Appliance Service Company on West Broadway so many years ago (late 60′s) to visit my boss–all the staff liked to see his smiling face coming in the door. A lovely and personable man, positive and friendly and just great to be around.

  11. Carmen Bressanutti on January 26th, 2012 6:18 pm

    Dear Olive and family,

I cannot say how sad and sorry of Gino’s passing. I know there will be a great void in all of your lives and certainly in all of the lives that Gino has touched. His fun-loving attitude was infectious and his heart was generous!
Dan put it best…..he and you together were the best of the best…amazing people with open and generous hearts, fantastic and reliable volunteers!
For me personally, I was priveledged to know you both outside of BUH as the ‘adopted’ family member. I will miss him!

    Sincerely,
    Carmen

    Uncle Gino,
I have been very fortunate in having an uncle like you and being made to feel like a part of your household for many summers. I grew up with your laughter, support, and guidance. You were always there to guide me, though at times I recall thinking, Oh no, not another long conversation but your kind words of wisdom helped to make me into the woman I became. You will remain in my heart as one of the best and no one can take all the memories that my heart holds. I will always remember the large table full of family, conversation and laughter, you at the head and Aunty Olive bringing plate upon plate of delicious food.
I am writing this little note to you, for though you have been called to God’s table I know you will be able
to read my farewell. I now have a grandchild to tell so many stories to, and relay all the things you taught me. So you see Uncle you will live on, not only in my heart but also in his.

    To Aunty Olive, and Family,
I know there are no words that can ease your loss, but I wanted to let you know that each of you will always be in our hearts and our thoughts. We hope there will be some comfort in knowing that he will not be forgotten. We embrace you all and may these words sooth all of you, someone so special lives on in each and every one of you and the future Fera’s.
Love Joanne and Luigi, Thea and Mark, Sandro, and the little addition to the family Daman.

    Dear Olive and family,

Just a short note to say how sorry I was to hear of Gino’s passing. I know how big of a hole it creates in your life but at the same time gives some comfort in knowing your loved one is finally at peace.

Gino is a master father. I have learned so much more about what it means to really be there for your family by listening to the story of Gino Fera. He always drew me in with his charismatic personality and now as I read the stories and listen to the words from Tony and all the other relatives, it reinforces what I have always admired about Gino.

He is a profound positive influence that will live on.

    Ciao baby … love ya!

    Dave
