Leonzio (Leo) La Porta

LA PORTA, Leonzio (Leo)
Shortly before midnight on December 11, 2011, an amazing man, husband, father and nonno slipped away from us to join his parents and siblings in heaven. Leonzio (Leo) La Porta, born January 1, 1926 in Frosolone , Italy passed away peacefully and calmly surrounded by his loving family. Left to mourn and remember his incredible life is his wife of 51 years, Antonietta, sons Cosimo (Loraleen), Daniel, and daughters Angela (Alex), Anna and Sandra (Patrick.) He will be missed greatly by his grandchildren, Micaela, Erica, Marcus, Teresa, Matteo and Julien. He cherished his grandchildren greatly. Leo was a pillar of strength, up until the end, who was loved by all. He leaves behind many in-laws, nieces and nephews both here and in Rome, Italy, and dear friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011 at St. Helen’s Church 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby, BC. We extend our sincere gratitude to all family and friends for their support and love for our Leo. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors on ward 200A of Burnaby Hospital who treated him with the dignity and respect he so deserved. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association of Canada. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.bellburnaby.com

  31. Cindy, Mark, Jeremy, and Nathan on December 23rd, 2011 12:57 pm

To you entire family we want to tell you how much we thought of your husband/father. He was always so kind to all of us; with his yearly chats with Mark about his lawn-mover use, (or abuse on Mark’s part!), he always greeted Jeremy and Nathan by name at all your family functions and made them feel welcome, and a part of your extended family; and from myself, he always had a kind word, his beautiful smile, sharing his gardening expertise with me with fresh basil, or shaking his head with a smile on his face at Anna and I with our big dogs, trying to have a sit-down coffee at Starbucks! He was a special man, we grieve with you in your loss, and hope your wonderful memories of him will comfort you in this very sad time. With much love, Cindy, Mark, Jeremy and Nathan
