DeBENEDETTO, Antonia January 1, 1936 – November 26, 2011 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Antonia DeBenedetto. She will be forever missed by Vittorio, her husband of 52 years, sons Sabino (Sheena), Nick (Patricia), Vincenzo (Tanya), and grandchildren Danielle, Jessica, Alicia, Vittorio and Victoria. Antonia is also survived by her brothers Domenico and Frank, and sisters Santina, Pasqualina, Rosina and Carmella. Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish (555 Slocan St, Vancouver, BC) on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 11:00 am. Luigi Rizzardo

January 16, 1920 – November 27, 2011
Luigi was born in Paderno del Grappa, Treviso, Italy. He served in the Second World War, worked in Italy and Switzerland before immigrating to Canada with a young family in October of 1953, initially settling and working in Berthierville, Quebec. In 1956 Luigi and his wife Rita decide to move to Vancouver, where Luigi worked as a labourer for Sanderson Concrete Products. His work ethic and determination allowed him to retire with the company as its Operations Manager. In his travels Luigi became fluent in Italian, French and English. Luigi passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife Rita of 62 years, his sons Frank (Almerina), Marc (Vicky), daughter Lorraine (Dennis), daughter-in-law Linda (Larry), sister-in-law Antonietta, brother-in-law Pedro, 12 grandchildren: Greg (Lindsay), Michelle (Trevor), Simon (Candice), Aaron (Shirin), Bryan, Tyson, Diane, Beth, Kate, Nico, Ryan, Hannah and 6 great grandchildren: Luca, Cora, Nolan, Bryson, Alicia, and Hunter, (all who brought him great joy and a smile to his face.) He was predeceased by his eldest son Roger and his siblings Ida (Pacifico), Maria, and Silvio. In his final years, Luigi went through the illness of Alzheimer’s and was cared for by his spouse Rita, the support of his family and the staff at the Florentine Senior’s Residence, in Merritt, BC. Prayers will be offered at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 2025 Napier St., Vancouver, BC on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 6:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10:00 am. BOVE, Oreste born in Celano L’Aquila on July 8th, 1925 passed away in Vancouver B.C. on Nov. 24th 2011 at the age of 86. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father Oreste a dedicated husband, a loving father and devoted nonno and grandnonno. He peacefully departed this earth and into the Lord’s embrace surrounded by the loving arms of his family. Husband to Quintina, father to Joe (Anna), Sergio (Silvia), Delia (Michael). Nonno to Giacomo, Nadia, Oreste(Carrie), Diana, Julia, Gianna Greatnonno to our little Sante. A man that was creative, innovative, sincere and passionate with all elements that passed through his hands. Pappa was always available to give a helping hand or support to those who needed it, generosity of his time will be the biggest loss to us that are left behind. He taught us about wisdom and the respect of others. Pappa will be missed by all who knew him. He was blessed with a very large extened family which included brother in laws, sister in laws and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. We would like to thank them for their unwavering support. Special thanks to the Medical staff @ VGH, also Dr. M. Copeland, Dr. R. Moccia, Dr. S. Rabkin and Dr. Nantel who with their compasion and expertise gave us the gift of having our father that much longer. Catherine, born on July 22, 1923, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2011 with her sister Hilda Lieffers at her side. Catherine lived her life with a very strong faith. Catherine will be missed by her sisters Olga Radziwon, Jean (George) Mescheschnick, Hilda Lieffers, Donna Batuik and brothers Joe (Shirley) Schewaga, Terry (Gloria) Schewaga, sister-in-law Ethel (George) Hawkins and all of their children. Catherine was predeceased by her parents, 5 brothers, and a sister. Catherine worked as a teacher for 35 years. She had a great passion for her students. Catherine also had a great love for travelling and lawn bowling. We would like to thank Dr. Jenifer Shaw and all the nurses that took care of Catherine. Lucia passed away peacefully on November 19th, 2011 at Mt. St. Joseph’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC at the age of 75 years. Born in Torre del Greco, Naples, Italy, she immigrated to Canada July 5, 1965. Predeceased by her loving husband Vincenzo, brother Giovanni, sister Guiseppina. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Lina (Franco), Franca (Christopher); grandchildren Francesco, Ashley, Nicholas and Sonia; brothers and sisters Ciro, Luigi, Angelina, Rosaria, and nieces and nephews. She was a talented seamstress who dedicated her life to the pleasures of family. Beautiful memories will be cherished by all family and friends in Italy, USA and Vancouver. Also survived by nephew James Toogood (Cathy) and others. She was also survived by brother-in-law Douglas Lane Sr., nieces and nephew Bev Kinshella, Judy Lane and Doug Lane and many families and friends.
