 We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our loved one, Vittoria.  Born in Ponte, Benevento, Italy, almost 99 years ago, Vittoria immigrated to Canada in 1967, predeceased by her loving husband, Giovanni.  She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Antonietta and Carmela (Donato), her grandchildren, Josie (John), John (Lina), Marisa, Sandra, Mara (Ishmael), and Angelo (Tracy).  Her 8 great-grand children will miss her loving hugs and kisses. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, the 3rd, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows, 525 Slocan Street, Vancouver. Entombment to follow at the Abbey mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Huntington’s Society of Canada and the BC Cancer Society.

 

 

Vittoria (Victoria) Rocchetti

Our family is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our dearest mother at the age of 81 on the 24th October 2011. Mother was predeceased by her husband Vincenzo and their son Joseph.  Victoria was also predeceased by her sister Sandra (Nino), her sister-in law Angela (Domonic), Victoria (Nazarano), brother-in law Vincenzo  (Libby) and Michael (Anna). Mom will be sadly missed by her children Paul, David (Shelly) as well as grandchildren Vincent, Mark (Pary), Curtis and her great grandchildren Talia and Nicca as well as many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother Guerino (Carmela) and sister Libby (Vincenzo). Prayers will be offered on Friday the 28th at 7:30 pm and funeral services will be held on Saturday the 29th at 10am at Our Lady of Sorrows, 525 S. Slocan St. Vancouver.  Entombment to follow at the Abbey mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park.  In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the charity of your choice.

 

 

 

 

Paolino Bruno Carino

January 25, 1928 – October 19, 2011

 

Bruno passed away peacefully at Burnaby General Hospital on October 19, 2011.  Predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Dolores on May 8, 2011.   Survived by daughter Sandra (Kelly); grandsons Grant and Adam; brother Primo (Luisa); sisters Silvana in Italy, and Amelia; and many nieces and nephews both in Canada and Italy.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen’s Catholic Church 3860 Triumph St. Burnaby.  Entombment to follow at the Garden Mausoleum, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Burnaby.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the  Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.  Condolences may be offered to the family at www.bellburnaby.com

 

 

 

Antonio Salandini

July 5, 1935 – October 17, 2011
We are greatly saddened to announce the sudden passing of Tony on October 17th, 2011. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years Eleonora; children Carla LaLeggia (Joe), Linda Johnston (Ken) and Anthony; grandchildren Natalie, Joey, Chloe and Trevor; brother Frank (Barbara); sisters in Italy and Switzerland, Lina, Antonietta and Mirca. Nonno Tony was born July 5th, 1935 in Galleria, Veneta, Italy and came to Canada in 1957. Eleonora followed in 1959 and they were married. He spent his life working hard as a painter and builder and provided well for his family. He loved his grandkids and enjoyed watching them grow. He loved a good hockey game and took great pride in his grandkids accomplishments. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. Helen’s Church, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park. With heavy hearts we say goodbye to our beloved papa, Nonno, zio. Born in Serradifalco, Italy on August 9, 1928 and passed on October 10, 2011 with his family at his side. Lorenzo came to Canada as a young man first landing by ship in New York and then making his way to Vancouver where he settled to raise his family. He leaves behind his adoring wife of 57 years Gaetana; children Lillo (Aphrodite), Concetta (Kenneth), Leonardo (Patrizia); his cherished grandchildren, Daniela, twins Rachel and Samantha, Michaela, Matteo, Alessia and Lorenzo; his brother and sister in-law, Gaetano and Carmela Scamacca and Gioacchino Territo along with other relatives, nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada. Hardworking strong and gentle, Nonno had a generous spirit and devoted much of his time to his family. He loved gardening, especially his tomatoes, but mostly he loved his wife. All will miss him. We would like to thank the staff at VGH and Brock Farhni for all their help and compassion. Joseph passed away on October 11, 2011 at the age of 77 years. He is predeceased by his wife Margaret, son Kevin, brother Pio and sister Josephine. He is survived by his loving family; children Kathleen, Keith (Esther), Michael, and Jack; grandchildren Richard, Joseph, Ashlee, Rae-Anne, Nicolas, Jeremiah, Jonah, Daniel, and Emily; sisters Marion and Rose; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thank-you to Holly, the staff, and residents at Concord Retirement Residence for making him comfortable and welcome. Joe was a dedicated member of the ILWU Local 500 for 40 years. He was well known and loved by his fellow workers, whom he advocated for with passion and truth.
