Zlatko Nikola Radman

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Zlatko Nikola Radman on September 4th, 2011. He died surrounded by love and in the arms of his wife, son and daughter. In 1965, Zlatko moved to Prince Rupert, Canada from the Island of Solta in Croatia with his wife Tereza and daughter and later proudly added to his family with the birth of his son Anthony. In 1995, Zlatko and Tereza moved to Vancouver to be with their children. He provided for his family by fishing the waters of British Columbia for salmon, herring and halibut with his fishing boat the ‘Del Rio’. Zlatko leaves behind a family bonded by deep love and a sense of family, which he instilled. He was a quiet, thoughtful man, with a deep love of family and friends. He was the fairest and most dedicated person we have ever known. Mass and Memorial services for Zlatko Radman will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 7pm at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Catholic Church, 3105 1st Ave E., Vancouver. His family will later take him back to Croatia, fulfilling his wish that his final resting place be in the country that he so loved.

Stefano Benassi

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stefano Benassi, who passed away on September 7th, 2011 at the age of 53 years. He is survived by his loving family, wife; Caterina Benassi, children Roberto and Cristina; and sisters, Lina and Yolanda (Italy). Prayers will be offered on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 7pm from St, Helens Catholic Church, 3860 Triumph St. Burnaby, B.C. where the Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 14th at 11am. Giovanni Nicolich

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Giovanni Nicolich on September 8, 2011 at the age of 89. Giovanni leaves behind his wife Maria of 63 years; children Giordana, Alfio and Annamaria (Tom); grandchildren Natasha, Carmela, Garry, Jimmy, Cindy and Patricia. He enjoyed wine making and gardening. Prayers will be held on Monday, September 12 at 7:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 525 Campbell Avenue, Vancouver where the funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 13 at 10:00 am. Interment will be followed at Mountain View cemetery, 5455 Fraser Street, Vancouver, BC.

Giuseppe “Joe” Collerusso

Giuseppe “Joe”, was born in Bagnoli del Trigno, Isernia, Italy and passed away at Royal Columbian Hospital. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Ferruccio and sisters Lucia and Irene. Survived by his loving family, wife Lidia of 57 years, daughter Anna (Domenic) Macera, grandchildren Anthony (Tanya), Christina and Daniela, great grandchildren Alessandro, Sophia and Olivia, 4 sisters, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, many nieces, nephews and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15th at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby, B.C. Entombment at the Ocean View South Mausoleum. Ruth Ellen Moran

Ruth Ellen Moran born November 23, 1916, passed peacefully on August 28, 2011, at Burnaby General Hospital with her loving daughter, Linda, by her side. Ruth was born and raised on the prairies of Buris, Saskatchewan. Ruth and her late brother, Carl, were born at home to Andrew and Alma Olson, originally from Roma, Sweden. Ruth married her late husband “Tex” in Regina, Saskatchewan before moving to British Columbia to start their own family. She spent her life in the pursuit of making her family and friends feel comfortable with her loving personality and world famous pies. She will be fondly remembered by her daughter Linda, grandchildren Don and Amanda, 3 great grandchildren, and many other family and friends. A viewing will be held on September 14th, at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby. A Graveside service will be held on September 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Normandy section, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby. Rosina, born April 16, 1931 in Sambiase, Calabria, Italy, passed away peacefully September 4, 2011 in Vancouver, BC at the age of 80 years. She was predeceased by her husband Giuseppe in 1998. She is survived by her loving family, children Carmelo (Daniela); Mose (Teresa) and Graziella; grandchildren Alessia, Alannah, Joseph and Jessica; brothers Erminio (Rosina) and Lorenzo (Helene); sisters Giuseppina (Vincenzo), Antoinetta (Giovanni) and Maria (Gerardo). Rocco Melchiorre

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rocco Melchiorre on August 31, 2011 at the age of 81. Rocco was the beloved husband of Rosa, cherished father of Nella (Joe) and Lina (Glenn), loving Nonno of Marleis, Andre, Reid, Jonathan, Jeneca and Anthony. He is predeceased by his parents Michele and Rocchina, his 4 brothers and 1 sister of Italy and brother-in-law Fedele of Vancouver. He will be sadly missed by his sister-in-laws Michelina and Giuseppina, brother-in-law Antonio, cousins, nieces and nephews. Rocco was an avid and talented gardener, an active member of the Over 50 Club of both the Italian Cultural Centre and Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Special thank-you to the staff at the BC Cancer Agency and his community health nurse, Miho.
