Luigi Valentino Bernardi passed away on June 24, 2011 at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his loving family; wife Carolina; children John, Esther (Keith); grandchildren Daniel, Emily, Ashlee, Jeremiah, and Jonah; brothers Emilio (Rosina) and Giovanni; sister Angela (deceased); sisters-in-law Filomena, Isabella, and Gilda (Tony), and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Special thank-you to all our loved ones who helped us through this difficult time. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 2025 Napier St. Vancouver. Passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the age of 82 years. He was predeceased by his son Aldo, nephew Rosario, sister Concettina Di Salvo, brother Stefano Di Salvo and his wife Giovanna and brother-in-law Paris Muccillo. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Vitalina; children Felix (Maria), Carmelina (Don) and Ernesto (Tracey); grandchildren Michael, Jatine, David (Taryn), Breanne (A.J.), Michele (Joel) and Bianca; great grandson Kaiden; sisters Giovanna Ciolli (Tony), Rosina Sferra of Italy; brothers-in-law Michele Muccillo (Giovannina), Nino Muccillo (Maria) of USA and Adolfo Muccillo (Sharron) of USA; sisters-in-law Guiseppina Sferra of USA, Venice Muccillo of Brazil and Angelina Muccillo of Italy; many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends in Canada and abroad. Passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the age of 63, surrounded by loving family and friends. She successfully battled leukemia; however, she ultimately succumbed to unexpected complications. She is predeceased by her parents, Ken and Florence Harrington. She is survived by her family; husband, Jim Sherer; children, Nancy Turner (Joe), Steven Sherer (Amanda); stepdaughters, Sandy Jennens (Brett) and Marji Locket (Sean); grandchildren, Mackenzie & Danika Turner and Brittney & Brandon Locket; brothers and sisters, Diane (Paul), Paul (Diane), Mike (Shirley) and many nieces and nephews, other close family and friends. The family would like to send out a special thank you to Dr. Nevill and the Bone Marrow Daycare Clinic. Survived by her loving sons, Dario of Vancouver and Claudio (Nancy) of Winnipeg, MB; sister Lidia in France; grandchildren, Sandra of Ottawa, ON; and David (Amy) of Toronto, ON; and many relatives and friends in Vancouver, Italy, and France. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 25th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church 525 S. Slocan St. Vancouver.
