It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother. Predeceased by her husband Raffaele in 1995. Survived by her daughter Maria (Wayne) and son Salvatore (Jadranka), grandchildren Sarah and Tyler, and sisters Teresa (Franco) Pironaggi and Carmen (Gasparo) Caporale. Her home was always open to family gatherings, where the immediate family and neighbors, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews would have come together and now we can cherish those memories. We will miss her singing and the smell of home made panne. Her kindness and her loving spirit will be greatly missed by all that had the privilege to know her. Prayers will be offered at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby, B.C. where Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5th. It is with great sadness we announce the passing Tony on December 22, 2010 at the age of 53 years. He was predeceased by his mother Maria Domenica, father Leonardo, and brother Giovanni. Tony is survived by his loving family, brother Joe (Jorie); niece Jennifer (David), nephew Joey; great-nieces Claire and Emma, and other family members and relatives. June 25, 1931 – December 24, 2010 With great sadness the family announces the passing of our husband, father and grandfather in Burnaby General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley, of 57 years; daughters, Darlene Sharcott, Coral Pearce (Ken), Janice Hill (Mike Dunn); son, Ryan Hill (Sharon); and grandchildren, Kyle (Candice), Peter, Andrew and Jessica. He will be greatly missed. Heart-felt thanks to the medical and nursing staff at Burnaby General Hospital for their compassion and caring during Ron’s protracted hospital stay. There is no funeral by request. An open house for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010, from 2-5 pm. at the family home, 6912 Joffre Avenue, Burnaby, BC. Salvatore Mobilio

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great -grandfather, and brother, Salvatore Mobilio at the age of 88 years. Salvatore was born April 30, 1922 in Vibo Valentia, Calabria, Italy, immigrated to Vancouver to join his brother in 1966, and passed away December 25, 2010 in Burnaby, British Columbia. He was predeceased by his wife Rosa in 1983 and son-in-law Tony Canosa in 2009. Survived by his loving family, children Anna (Joe) Mauro, Vittoria Canosa, Domenico (Cheryl), Catarina (Stefano) Banassi, Pina (Bruno) Papalia, and Maria (Frank) Fontana; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister Liberata Manco; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thank-you to his friends Gilda Giardini and Pasquale Fierro. May 27, 1937 – December, 18, 2010 It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our Mom, Jill Bernauer of Burnaby, B.C. Jill will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Monica (Ken), Susan (Neil), Chris (Rob) and four grandchildren, Caitlin, Cole, Madison and Makena and her brother Jack (Sharon) as well as many dear friends and co-workers. Jill was predeceased by Gunther, her husband of 37 years. Her presence and her understated elegance will forever be remembered with great fondness. A special thank you is extended to the BC Cancer Agency, in particular Drs. Shaipanich, Murray and Rosemary Cashman for their dedication and wonderful support during Mom’s illness. A Celebration of Jill’s Life will be held on January, 7th, 2011 at 1pm at the Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel located at 4276 Hastings St. Burnaby. Helen Katherine Hamilton (nee Murray)

Born in Calgary, AB on October 22, 1929. Passed away in Burnaby, BC on December 16, 2010 at the age of 81, after a battle with cancer. Helen was pre-deceased by her husband of 56 years, Ronald, earlier this year. Helen is survived by her sons Ross (Cathy) and Glenn (Elizabeth) and her daughter Kathy (Sharlene). She is fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren Jillian, Meredith, Laura, Iain, Eric, Karly and Abigail. Helen is also survived by her nephew Bob Johnston (Darlene) of Edmonton, her nieces Lyn Nagy (Steve) and Lois Phillips (Ray) of Calgary, sister-in-laws Jean Gourlay of Burnaby, Irene (Bill) Sherren of Oakville, brother-in-law Bob Gourlay, Lenore Fenton and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Helen grew up on a farm in Symons Valley, north of Calgary, and graduated from Western Canada High School in Calgary. She worked in Calgary for a few years where she met and married Ron. Helen and Ron lived in Calgary, AB, Denver, CO and Ottawa, ON, where Helen worked at Revenue Canada for 20 years. Ron and Helen retired to Burnaby, B.C. in 1990. Helen was very active in retirement as a volunteer involved with the Confederation Seniors’ Centre, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 148 and the New Chelsea Society, which provides housing for veterans and seniors in Vancouver and Burnaby. The family provides special thanks to Ron and Helen’s Vancouver relatives and friends who have provided wonderful support during the past year and especially to Jean Gourlay, Pat and Rosemary Tipper, Joan Robertson, Shirley Harrison, Susan Simpson, Rhiza, Genny and Helen’s Burnaby palliative care nurses. The funeral will be held at the Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel (4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby) on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Vincenzo was born in Camini, Reggio Calabria Italy and passed away peacefully at Mt. St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was predeceased by his brother Eugenio Arcadi and sister Caterina Tassoni Survived by his loving wife Caterina of 53 years, brother Franco, sister Carmela Peronaci, many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21st at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, B.C. With sorrow in our hearts, we announce the passing on December 15, 2010, of our beloved Pompilio – husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was 87 years old. In eternal rest, Pompilio joins his father Agostino, his mother Giuditta, his brothers Serafino and Nicola and his brother-in-law Luigi. His memory will live on in all of us who survive him: his wife of 64 years Carmine; his children Agostino (Melina), Edvige (Gino) and Marcello (Lina); his grandchildren Piero (Lisa), Alex (Milly), Sabrina, Michael, Chris, Rick (Laura), Stefano and Adam; his great-grandchildren Matteo, Dominic, Pierluigi, Luca, Vanessa, Francesca, Annika, Andréa and Ava; his brother Nazzareno (Mina); his sisters Claudina and Rosa (Biagio); his sisters-in-law Linda and Bettina, and his many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. An example to us all, Pompilio lived a long and satisfying life. He asked for little, and was blessed with much. His family was his greatest joy and reward. To the caring staff at Burnaby General Hospital, we express our deepest thanks.
