After a long courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mario Angelo Pastro. Mario passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on Feb 10, 2010. He is survived by his wife and partner of 35 years Debbie, children Dino, Daryl (Lorraine), Derek & Sara. Six grandchildren Ricky, Dacy, Kevin, Alicia, Shae-Lynn and Treyden. Two brothers and one sister, many nieces and nephews and family in Italy. Predeceased by his son Ricky. Mario was born on November 20, 1942 in Selva Del Montello, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1957. Mario worked for many years in the paving industry and then moved into his true love in construction. For many years he was the president of the Selva Del Montello society. He had a zest for life and loved to garden, play golf, texas holdem poker and make his own wine. He lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by his family, dear friends and all the people he touched in his lifetime. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Evergreen and Coastal Health for their excellent care of Mario during his final days. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 525 Slocan Street, Vancouver, B.C. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mario Pastro to Variety Club-The Children’s Charity of B.C. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.bellburnaby.com

    Dear Debbie,Dino, Daryl, Derek,&Sara I am so sorry for your loss, your husband,”dad” was a great man , he helped my family at the time of our need, and was loved by all his extended family here and in Italy, he was always very supported of his sister in Italy before and after her stroke and visited many times,to her joy.I know that the time ahead will be hard,but I hope that it will give you confort that Mario is no longer in pain and that he was meet in heaven by his brother and sisters.
