Anne Helen Brown (Samoluk)

Mom died on December 31, 2009. Much loved mother to Jean and Marlene. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Thank you, Ken, for flying here every year to see Mom. Mom grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan. She entered the Air Force during WWII where she was known as Sammy. Then along came Dad (Bill), a foreigner from Glasgow, Scotland, a union which lasted until his death in 1992. Mom and Dad did a great deal of travelling together. Mom’s working life was spent nursing at Vancouver General Hospital. She loved gardening and this resulted in adopting several stray cats and the occasional dog. Mom liked painting houses, inside and out, doing home repairs and made thousands of perogies. We wish to thank the staff of St. Jude’s Anglican Home, main floor, for their great kindness to Mom during the last two years of her life. We also thank Friskie, the resident cat, who didn’t do very much. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA. Memorial service to be held at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. “If he that thinks on death well lives and dies, the gardener sure is gone to paradise.”
