Tarcisio Lovison

It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, Tarcisio Lovison, after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at home during the morning of Sunday, December 6th, 2009 with his loving family by his side. Tarcisio was born in San Giorgio di Perlena, Vicenza, Italy on May 8th, 1937 and immigrated to Canada with his ”Angel” Luigina in 1966. Together they raised 3 children, Gildo (Lisa), Roger and Corrado (Maria) who gifted them 3 grandchildren, Mattias, Nicholas and Lorenzo. Predeceased by his parents Ermenegildo and Margherita, brother Cleto, sister-in-law Carmen and nephew Sergio, Tarcisio is survived by his adoring wife, children and grandchildren along with his brothers Bortolo (Graziella), Pietro (Maria), Antonio (Maria Teresa), Giovanni (Lina) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada. Tarcisio will forever be remembered for his endless devotion towards his family and genuine willingness to lend a helping hand along with his fine carpentry skills, unparalleled work ethic, zest for life, kind heartedness and firm belief in his faith. Prayers will be offered on Sunday, December 13th at 4:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 525 Slocan Street, Vancouver, B.C. where Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, December 14th at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will take place at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum after the Mass. Kenneth Louis Penneway

January 29, 1941 – December 02, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of Ken Penneway announces the passing at the age of 68 years after a long valiant struggle with illness. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Jean, father Philip and brother Joseph (Susan). He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Jeanette (Frank) Ewart, his brother Richard (Gail), many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and a great nephew. Ken was a warm and generous person who loved the outdoors and excelled in life. For many years he worked as a food trader for Calkins and Burke, where he bought and sold food commodities around the world as well as making many good friends. Prayers will be offered on Thursday, December 10th at 6:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, B.C. Followed by a Christian Funeral Mass on Friday, December 11th at 10:00 a.m. A reception and celebration of Ken’s life will follow in the church hall. Ernesto Risi

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 05, 2009 in Burnaby, BC at the age of 86 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Giovannina in 1994, brother Carmelo and sister-in-law Giuseppina. Lovingly remembered by sons Sabatino, Gianni (Connie), grandchildren Alessia, Michael and Isabella, nieces, nephews in Vancouver and Italy. Ernesto immigrated to Canada in June 1951 from Italy to begin a new life for his family. It was through his hard work and pioneering spirit that enabled his extended family a good life here in Canada. Special thank you to the staff at Fellburn Care Centre. Antonio (Tony) Canosa

December 3, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our hero, our father, Antonio (Tony) Canosa. Born August 31, 1940 in Ortona, Abruzzo, Italy, Tony passed away on November 30, 2009, after a lengthy and hard fought battle with colon cancer.
He is survived by his loving family, wife, Vittoria, sons Claudio (Tara) and David, and daughter Angela (Marco) and the lights of his life, his grandsons, Christian, Luca, Alessandro and Adriano. He is also survived by his brothers and many nieces and nephews, both here and in Italy.
Tony handled his illness with acceptance and the most amazing courage, strength and dignity and will forever be an inspiration to us. We are so heartbroken by our loss, but we are comforted by the fact that he is finally in a much better place.
Prayers will be offered on Monday, December 7 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Helen’s Catholic Church, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby, with Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated on Tuesday, December 8 at 11:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, South Mausoleum.

John (Ian) McLeod

December 3, 2009

Passed away peacefully on November 25, 2009 at the age of 94. He is predeceased by his wife of 64 years Margaret. He is survived by his loving family, children Marion Wood and Al (Valerie), grandson Toby (Helen) and great grandchildren Cory, Brittany, Madison, and Mackenzie. After serving in the RCAF overseas, John returned to Winnipeg and moved to Vancouver in 1946 where he worked for Woodward’s Department Store until retirement. During his retirement he enjoyed many years of travel with family and friends. He enjoyed his hobby as a magician and was awarded to Order of Merlin Excalibur by the International Brotherhood of Magicians in 2007. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm December 10, 2009 at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masonic Community Charities Fund 1495 W. 8th Avenue, Vancouver BC V6H 1C9 in memory of John McLeod.

Irma Paiero (née Borsato)

Our mother, Irma Paiero, passed away peacefully on November 30th at the age of 83. She was predeceased by our father, Italo, in 1998. Mom is survived by her loving family, daughter Connie (Adolfo and grandchildren Alexander, Samantha, Joshua) and son Joseph (Marisa and grandchildren Anthony, Marcus, Adrianna, Michael), sisters (Mary, Vera, Lorraine), brother (Fred), many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Also missing her terribly is her canine companion, her “little puppy” Mia. We would like to thank the staff of Burnaby Hospital for their compassionate care over the years. Special thanks to ER RN Erica who made her last hours on earth comfortable. Our mother was a nurturing and fiercely independent person, night owl, “completer” of jigsaw puzzles, voracious reader of romance novels, fan of figure skating and hockey, talented and innovative “fixer” of just about anything, and longtime lover of African Violets and Chihuahuas. Prayers will be offered on Sunday December 6 at 4 PM with Mass of Christian Burial on Monday December 7 at 10 AM , both at Holy Cross Church, 1450 Delta Avenue, Burnaby. Born February 15, 1916 in Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy passed away November 28, 2009 at the Villa Carital, Vancouver. Maria was predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years Giovanni, son Felix, and her brothers Pasquale, Domenico, Giovanni, and Santino. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Filomena, son-in-law Paul, grandson Jonathan and her sisters Giuseppina and Antonietta, along with many nieces and nephews.
