Born Vancouver, August 26, 1920, passed away peacefully in Burnaby, Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the age of 89 years.  She is predeceased by her loving husband Joseph in 1988.  Lovingly remembered by her daughter Carlin (Maurice) Hayden; sons Ray and Jim (Valerie); grandchildren Ryan (Lana), Kerri (Jason), Kristy (Lui), Jeremy, Jeffrey, Chantelle, and Rick; 4 great grandchildren; sister Elizabeth McLean; brother James (Lottie) Urquhart and best friend Irene Williamson.  Special thanks to the staff at St. Michael’s Care Center and Dr. Ian Cameron during Mother’s last days.   Celebration of Annie’s Life will be held Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation in Annie’s name.

Grace MacNeil

November 9, 1915 – August 21, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, affectionately known as Nana. Grace was born in Gull Lake, Sask. and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children in Port Moody, BC. Grace was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Lachie in 1991, her son Johnnie in 1954 and her son-in-law Jay Osen in 1994. Grace is survived by her devoted family; daughter Mary Osen; daughter and son-in-law Ann and Doug Payette, and son and daughter-in-law Michael and Debra MacNeil. Nana also leaves nine grandchildren: Theresa (Ron) Turner, Melanie (Dennis) Stoiber, Michael, Christopher, Johnny and Ryan Payette, Jennifer (Shaun) Rensen, Kimberley and Todd MacNeil. Six great-grandchildren: Amanda and Nicholas Payette, Dallas and Mackenzie Turner, Maya and Dahlia Stoiber. Grace was the second oldest in a family of ten and is survived by three sisters all of Alberta: Edie Joy, Eileen Keenleyside, and Ella Barnes. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. We would like to thank the wonderful staff of Eagle Ridge Manor for the love and care our Mother received from them over the past two and one half years. Grace’s kindness, gentleness, faith in God and wonderful smile touched the hearts of many. Adele Della Savia passed away peacefully with her son and his wife by her side. Predeceased by her husband Angelo in 1988. Survived by her son Bruno (Sandy), daughter Yvonne (Sergio), grandchildren, great grandchildren, also nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law throughout Canada, Italy and Germany. Adele will be fondly  remembered as a beloved wife, wonderful mother and a caring Nonna. Many thanks to the team at Villa Carital for their loving care. January 11, 1917 – August 21, 2009 Margaret passed away peacefully on August 21, 2009 at age 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband Mike and sister Katica in Croatia. Margaret was born in Vrbnik, Otok Krk, Croatia. She came to Vancouver in February 1938. Survived by her loving family John (Karen), Peter (Nancy) and Darlene (Willie), 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nephews Petar (and daughter), John (and family), 3 sisters and many nieces and nephews in Croatia.  Passed away on August 20, 2009 at the age of 83 – after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Ana was born in Perusic, Lika, Croatia on March 7, 1926 and immigrated to Canada in 1962. She is predeceased by her husband Nikola (1991) and mother Kata Ojurovic (1998). She is survived by her loving son John, daughter Mandy and grandson Nicholas. She will be missed by her family and friends in Canada and Croatia. Eva-Marie Marchioro (nee McDougall)

March 12, 1947 – August 20, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much-loved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend. Eva-Marie was predeceased by her father Hugh and is survived by her loving husband of 30 years Domenico, sons David (Corrie) and Michael (Lindsay) and her treasured grandchildren Micah, Simone and Jaelyn. She also leaves to mourn her mother Alma McDougall, siblings, Ian (Amy), Rita (Aldo) Marchioro, Annette (Ron) La Brosse, Alma-Louise (Michael) Norris and Paul; her Aunt Rita (Jean-Yves), in-laws in Italy and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Eva-Marie graduated from VGH School of Nursing class of September ‘69. She was a compassionate and well-respected nurse working at VGH, MSJ and St. Paul’s hospitals. She was a dedicated BCNU steward, a very talented quilter and a caring soul. She was a gracious hostess who loved entertaining and spending time with friends and family. Eva-Marie was a woman of great faith who always believed that God gave us only the trials He knew we could manage. Since her diagnosis of brain cancer in February she never asked why me, she asked only for God’s grace to help her through this with dignity and that she die at home. Eva-Marie was received into the arms of Her Lord, at home, surrounded by her loving family. The family wishes to thank all of the dedicated nurses, physicians and caregivers involved in her care. BARUFFA Antonio It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antonio Baruffa at the age 81 years. Antonio was born in Celano, L’Aquila, Italy March 12, 1928. He will be forever loved and missed by his loving family. Wife Carmela of 55 years; sons Giancarlo (Ada), Cesidio and Sandro; grandchildren Michelle, Stefanie, Diana, Antonio, Danny and Michelle; sister Maria (in Celano); brother Loreto (Filomena); brother-in-law Tony (Renata) Rossi and many nieces, nephews and friends. Antonio was a dedicated worker for the GVRD for more than 30 years. A special thanks to the Doctors, nurses and staff at Burnaby General Palliative Care. Linda Mary Dewhirst (nee Davidson)

Passed away peacefully on July 31, 2009 at St. Michael’s Hospice at the age of 63 years. She was predeceased by her parents, James & Mary. Linda is lovingly remembered by her husband Jack; daughter Laurie (Gary) Williams; grandsons Shaun; Tyler; Scott and many relatives and friends. Linda was born in Vancouver and worked for many years at the Bank of BC until her retirement. Linda will always be remembered for her beautiful poetry, great sense of humor and her will to meet all obstacles without complaint. Linda loved many trips with Jack to Reno and Las Vegas. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Michaels for their loving care of Linda. There will be no funeral by request. Donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
