Born September 28, 1948 in Bagnoli, del Trigno, Italy passed away suddenly February 15, 2009. Carlo was predeceased by his father, Giovanni. He is survived by his loving family, mother Michelina; sister Paola Vignone (Angelo); aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family in Vancouver, Australia and Italy. Prayers will be offered at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at St. Judes Church, 3078 Renfrew Street, Vancouver where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Entombment, South Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park. Norina Benedet (nee Morassut)

Born July 3, 1913 in Sesto al Reghena, Italy; died February 12, 2009 in Vancouver, aged 95 years, after a short illness. Predeceased by her husband John in 1975 and daughter Loretta in 2000. Survived by her son Lawrence (Linda), grandchildren Janine (Trevor), Lyn (Kevin) and John, great-grandchildren Theo, Lucie and Genevieve, stepdaughters Armelina and Rose, sisters-in-law Carmen Morassut of Vancouver and Ada Benedet of Italy, and nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, Argentina and France. Norina came to Trail, B.C. from Italy in 1938 and moved to Turner Street in East Vancouver in 1943, where she lived for the next 62 years. She worked as a housekeeper at the Ritz Hotel and was an accomplished cook, seamstress and gardener, who kept chickens and grew abundant vegetables in her city backyard. Norina was devoted to her children, grandchildren and her extended family. She resided since 2005 at the Royal Arch Masonic Lodge and the family is grateful for the care and kindness she received there. Prayers to be held Tuesday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m.; Funeral Mass on Wednesday February 18 at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 555 S. Slocan St., Vancouver (Scalabrini Fathers Celebrant). Interment at the Abbey, Ocean View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Scleroderma Association for B.C., Box 218 Delta Main, Delta, B.C. V4K 3N7.
Niels Larsen Abildgard

1927-2009 On Feb 12, 2009, Niels died at the age of 81 years at Burnaby Gen Hosp after a 4-year illness. We thank all of the staff in the palliative care ward for making his passing a peaceful and comfortable one. Niels is survived by Iris, his wife of 56 years, sons Eric (Donna), Gary (Editha) and daughter Janice (Cameron), grandchildren Christopher, Alicia and Caitlin, and sisters Irene and Anna in Denmark.
Niels came to Canada in 1950, later settling in Vancouver. He worked many years at Burrard Shipyard. As an ILWU member, he spent the rest of his working years as a welder on the Vancouver waterfront. During retirement, he enjoyed time with family, gardening, working in his shop, and chatting with everyone in the local neighbourhood. Thank you to all of his friends from the Union for their ongoing support, especially Doug Grant, who was particularly helpful to our family.

March 30th, 1927 – February 8th, 2009 Ferdinando passed away gently Sunday afternoon after blowing a last kiss to the love of his life Yolanda. Born in Saini, Croatia, Nando with Yolanda and baby Marina arrived in Canada in 1957 laying a foundation for the Kolic family which now exceeds thirty-five in Vancouver. A dedicated husband, father and grandfather Nando’s memory will be kept alive by his wife Yolanda, children Marina, Ed and Sandra, grandchildren Kevin, Trevor, Antonia, Riley and Justin and his brothers Guido, Bruno, David, Danijel and sister Maria. Nando was truly a “good man” who set an example for all who knew him of the value of hard work and dedication to, and love of family. Prayers will be held Thursday, February 12th at 7:30 pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary (Croatian) Church, 3105 East 1st Ave., Vancouver, BC with Mass of Christian Burial to follow Friday, February 13th at 11:30 am.
