Dr. Anna Maria Masellis

December 27, 2008

October 23, ,1964 – December 25, 2008

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anna Maria after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Anna was born and raised in Vancouver. She moved to Edmonton after earning a degree at UBC. There, she married and gave birth to two beautiful children, Matthew and Danielle, who she helped raise while earning her doctorate at the University of Alberta. Life would take a turn and she moved to St.Paul, Minnesota. There, she led a team of researchers working to find a cure to the very disease that took her from us.

Anna now joins her father in heaven.
She is survived by her devoted, never tiring mother, Maria who remained by her side until her last breath. Her loving children, Matthew and Danielle, who were truly her pride and joy. Brothers Larry and Danny (Wendy) and many other relatives and friends who were with her throughout her fight.

The family is grateful to Zia Ada, Zio Silvano and Zio Pietro for taking time out of their busy lives to help care for Anna and mom in St.Paul and here at home. Also, we cannot put into words how grateful we are to her extended family in St.Paul, Angela, Anna, Alice and Lucia and so many others, who selflessly gave their time and love to Anna and our family. You are forever in our hearts.

Anna touched many lives around the globe and her fight against cancer will continue through the Masellis Care Foundation which she established after her initial diagnosis in 2006.

Prayers will be held on Tuesday December 30, 2008 , 7pm at St. Francis of Assisi parish followed by Mass on Wednesday December 31, 2008 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Masellis Care Foundation, www.maselliscare.org, would be appreciated.
