DI PALMA Nicola Born August 14, 1915 in Civitanova del Sannio, Italy passed away July 31, 2008. Nicola was predeceased by his wife Esterina in 2001. He is survived by his loving family, sons Carmine (Assunta) and Domenic (Luisa); daughter Adele (Mark) McMurray; grandchildren Angela (Maurizio), Sylvia (Jason), Nicola, Marco, Marisa, Sonia and Matthew and sister Giuseppina.

Mass of Christian Burial
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at St. Helen’s Church, 3860 Triumph St., Burnaby. Entombment, The Abbey, Ocean View Burial Park.

Giovanni Pilorusso

PILORUSSO,  Giovanni, born January 1, 1917 in Bagnoli del Trigno, Isernia Italy, passed away peacefully at Villa Carital, Vancouver on July 30, 2008. Predeceased by his beloved son Felix, brother Giuseppe and sister Rosalinda. Giovanni is survived by his loving wife of 71 years Maria. He will be sadly  missed by his daughter Filomena, son-in-law Paul Wiltse and grandson Jonathan of Powell River, sisters-in-law Giuseppina and Antonietta and many loving nieces and nephews.

Prayers & Mass of Christian Burial
Prayers will be offered at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 2025 Napier Street Vancouver where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Entombment, the Abbey, Ocean View Burial Park. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Villa Carital for their loving care and compassion.

Joe Jordan

JORDAN—Joseph James

Passed away suddenly on July 27th, 2008 after a brief stay in the hospital, from post-surgical complications.  Joe was a gentle, kind and generous man with a devotion to his family. He was born Josip Jankovich in Crikvenica, Croatia in 1922 and moved to Vancouver with his family when he was 14. He attended high school at Templeton and then trained to become a machinist. He continued the family fishing heritage by working as a commercial fisherman with B.C. Packers before developing his long career as a machinist with Seaspan International at Vancouver Shipyards.  Always a natural athlete, Joe was a talented soccer player. He played halfback for St. Saviors F.C. of the Pacific Coast League between 1945 and 1954 and was elected to two B.C. Mainland All-star teams. In later life he enjoyed golfing and daily walks near his home.  He will be lovingly remembered by Anne, his wife of 60 years; his children Bob (Kathy), Barb (Jim), Steve (Chris), Joanne (Ralph); his grandchildren Bianca, Rory, Perry, Owen, Alyssa; sister Matilda and brother Gordon (Slats).

Prayers & Funeral Mass
Prayers will be held on Friday, August 1st at 9:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Parish, 1450 Delta Ave., Burnaby.  Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 2nd at 2:00 p.m.

Edith Joyce Moore

July 22, 2008

MOORE – Edith Joyce (nee Foster), Born November 15, 1917 passed away peacefully July 22, 2008. Predeceased by her husband Gordon, her brother Robert Foster and sister Muriel Gibb. She is survived by her loving children son Wayne (Linda); daughter Barbara (Steve) Wild; grandson Roger and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Joyce was a committed and loyal member of the Girl Guides of Canada for more than 40 years, Joyce loved guiding and all the friends she made along the way who meant so much to her. The family would like to thank the Devji Family and all the caring staff at Deltaview Life Enrichment Centre for their loving care of our Mom.

Memorial Service
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 28th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, B.C. Ethne Newlands officiating.

CASSELLS Edna Passed away peacefully at Burnaby General on the 20th of July 2008. Edna, beloved wife of 52 years to Peter, much loved and loving mother of Stephen (Annie), Anne (David), Janet (Raymond), Lorraine (Keith) and Fraser (Melody). Loving Grandmother of Nicholas, Michelle, Alison, Kristina, Julien, Jared, Brynn, Stephanie, Emma and Conor and Great-grandmother to Kaleb.

Funeral
Funeral to be held on Thursday July 24th at 10 a.m. Bell & Burnaby Funeral Home. Interment at Forest lawn to follow. Many thanks to Burnaby General nurses in CCU for their wonderful care and attention given.

BIANCHIN (nee: PIOVESAN) Giuliana May 3, 1933 – July 19, 2008 Giuliana passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2008 surrounded by her family at her bedside. Giuliana was predeceased by her son, Vic and her sister, Erminia. She is survived by her son, Ernie (Raina), daughter-in-law, Vanda, grandchildren, Lea and Diana, brothers, Alfonso (Giovanna), Giovanni (Flavia) and Carlo (Lina), sisters in Italy, Giuseppina (Giovanni), Maria (Claudio) and Vittoria, as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members both here and in Italy. The family would like to thank the staff of the German Canadian Care Home for their kind support and care of Giuliana over the last few years.

KNOLL Elizabeth (Beth) May 01, 1918 – July 18, 2008 Sadly we announce the passing of our loving sister and aunt. Elizabeth was predeceased by her sisters, Mary and Angela and brothers, Andrew, Richard and Arnold. Survived by her sisters, Alice and Gertrude (Trudy) and many nieces and nephews. She loved life and especially her forty odd years in printing. We would like to thank the staff at Foyer Maillard Care Home for the great care and compassion they gave our sister. Christmas Manor staff were also very kind and helpful before she left for long term care. We hope our sister will have a wonderful journey to her precious Lawson Graphics Print Shop in the sky. Private family arrangements.

Predeceased by her brother, Bertillo.

Mario is survived by his loving wife Maria, children; Lilina (Tranquillo) Mazzarella, Maria, and Peter (Paola), grandchildren; Maria, Angelo, Antonella, Sergio, Mario, Romina, and Alessandra, great-grandchildren; Adam, Jamie, Luana, Diego, Luca, and Sasha. He will also be sadly missed by his sister in Italy Giovanna and many extended family and friends. Forever we will hold him dearly in our hearts.

Adelia is survived by her loving daughters Emilia (Dave), Diana (Oscar), and Silvia (Ron), 10 grandchildren, Nicole, Teresa, Lia, Atira, Maili, Nickolas, Franchesco, Bruno, Roni and Christopher, 2 great-grandchildren, Amber and Kaili, two brothers, Adolf and Dominic, sister Anita and their families. She will also be missed by her nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
