BASIC Manda November 28, 1919 – May 08, 2008 Manda was born in Duboki, Lika, Croatia. She leaves behind her daughter; Maria (Mike) Stimac, 2 grandchildren; Mike Stimac and Mira (Bozo) Vukoja, 2 great-grandchildren; Tanya and Anita Vukoja, brother; Dane Basic and extended family in Europe and Canada. Manda lost her mother and husband to a World War, then migrated to a new world. She battled breast cancer and heart disease like a true hero would. At 88 years young, a stroke proved to be the one battle she could not win. May she rest in the heavenly peace and love that she left us in. Funeral prayers Tuesday, May 13th at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Catholic Church, 3105 East 1st Ave., Vancouver, B.C. Mass of Christian Burial to follow Wednesday, May 14th at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Ocean View South Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Karitas – c/o Immaculate Heart of Mary Church would be appreciated.

ROCCA, Michele Ferdinando – May 8, 1919 – May 5, 2008. Our beloved Michele (our Nonno) died peacefully with family by his side on the evening of May 5, 2008 at the age of 88. Michele was predeceased by his wife Giovanna in 2004. Survived by his sisters, Rosa and Concetta, step-children Giovanna (Nicola) and Teresa (Domenico and family), his grandchildren Maria (Allan), Rosa (Zevin) and Paolo, and 3 great-grandchildren Lucas, Alessandra and Andren. Michele will be remembered as a proud man with a loving and generous heart. He had a passion for gardening which kept him young and a love for all sports. He loved children and was always happiest when they were near, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Memories shall live within us forever. Nonno, rest in peace with Nonna, we love you. Prayers will be offered at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1450 Delta Avenue, Burnaby B.C. Followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10th. Entombment Ocean View Abbey. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations in Michele’s memory to the Variety Club of BC or the charity of your choice.
