FIORDA Edith Forever in our hearts, Edith Emma Fiorda passed away peacefully on April 28, 2008 at the age of 70. She is predeceased by her parents George and Evelyn Stock; brothers, Jim and Harry Stock; and brother-in-law Gino Fiorda. Edith is survived by her loving family; husband Joseph, children; Tony (Bev), Dino (Amber), Guido (Michelle); grandchildren, Dustin, Devon, Joseph, Maya, Evan, Aaliyah, Alexis; step-grandchildren, Dylan and Kyle and Edith’s family; Bill, George, Evelyn, Frank, Jackie, Roy, Carmella, Nella, Lina, Guido, Pat, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Prayers and Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 8:00pm from Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 555 S. Slocan Street, Vancouver. Entombment to be held at Ocean View Burial Park on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Cancer Society.

DOTY Dorothy Anne A beloved mother and grandmother slipped away April 27, 2008, 9 days before her 100th birthday. Survived by daughter Anne (Ralph), grandchildren Jon, Cathie, Janet, Shannon (John), great-grandchildren Paden, Quinn, Austin, Gray, JR, Donald and Raven Grace, 2 great-great-granddaughters and nieces and nephew. Graveside service will be held at Sunnyside Lawn Cemetery, 14850 28th Avenue, Surrey, Thursday, May 1st at 2:00 p.m. And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

LARBALESTIER –Bernard Charles June 19, 1932 – April 26, 2008 Bernie passed away peacefully in the presence of family at St. Michael’s Hospice on April 26, 2008 at the age of 75. He was predeceased by his parents, Yann and Marie Larbalestier; brother, Thomas and sisters, Helen and Monique. Survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia and their 4 children; Monica (Brian), Angela (Nick), Marie (Harold) and Julian (Stephanie), 7 grandchildren, Jennifer, Randall, Diana, Serena, Richard, Daniel and Lauren; 2 brothers; John and Alan, 3 nieces and a nephew. Bernie was born in Jersey, Channel Islands and emigrated to Canada in 1955 eventually settling in Vancouver. Bernie was a devout Roman Catholic and long time member of the Knights of Columbus. He also volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program and at Collingwood House. Funeral prayers Wednesday, April 30th at 5:15 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 5251 Joyce Street, Vancouver, B.C. Mass of Christian Burial to follow Thursday, May 1st at 10:00 a.m. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Dr. P. Golin and staff of St Michael’s Hospice for their loving care of Bernie during his last days. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of B.C. or St Michael’s Hospice.

FARAC Matt December 01, 1922 – April 24, 2008 Matt passed away suddenly on April 25, 2008. He was predeceased by his wife Mary and sister, Marie. Born in Croatia, he is survived by his loving children, son, Matty (Adriana) and daughter, Leslie, grandchildren, Sean and Travis; brother, Alex (Heather); nephews, Chris and Randall Farac, nieces, Jennifer Farac, Debbie Fernandez and Dana Drakos. Matt lived in the Vancouver area since 1936, when with his mother, sister and brother they joined their father, Jack after a 27 day journey from Croatia. Times were difficult but they settled in, worked hard and adapted. Like his father, Matt became a successful commercial salmon and herring fisherman. After his retirement in 1991 he and his wife Mary were inseparable and could be seen together in neighbourhood malls and shops. Funeral prayers Thursday, May 1st at 7:00 pm. at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, B.C. Mass of Christian Burial to follow Friday, May 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1450 Delta Avenue, Burnaby, B.C. Entombment Ocean View Abbey. CARIDA Rosa (nee Franze)March 14, 1933 – April 21, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosa, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Predeceased by her parents Salvatore and Vittoria and her sister Carmelina, Rosa will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband of 52 years, Giovanni, her children Antonella (Tino), Rita (Vince), Domenico (Enzina) and Anna (Michael), her grandchildren Alfredo (Kristen), Adriano and Giovanni Valente, Mirella, Deanna and Enzina Moscato, Cassandra and Giovanni Carida, and Matteo, Sara and Grace Corradi and her great-grandson Noah Valente, her brothers and sisters both here and in Italy, Raffaele, Michelina, Giuseppina, Vincenza (Antonio), Leoluca (Orsola), Santa (Giuseppe), Nazzareno and Adriana, also many relatives and friends here and in Italy. Her family would like to thank Dr. Luigi Salvino, Dr. David Stuart, Dr. Randy Fedorchuk and the staff involved in her care at Burnaby Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their support and compassion during this difficult time. Prayers will be offered on Thursday, April 24th, at 7:00 PM at St. Helen’s Church, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby, B.C. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 25th at 10:30 AM. SIME – James Bruce Born Vancouver, B.C. June 12, 1933, passed away Kelowna, B.C. April 21, 2008. Predeceased by his parents Janet and Alan Sime, nephew Lorne and niece Diane. Bruce is survived by his loving family, sister Elaine, daughters Susan (Colin), Janet, Lisa (Tyrrell), sons Michael (Debbie), Brad (Gloria), his 9 grandchildren, who he adored and many cousins and so many close friends.
