Marietta De Fazio
DE FAZIO – Marietta
June 01, 1908 – March 01, 2008
Our beloved, Marietta died peacefully in her home, with family by her side, in the early morning of March 1, 2008, in her 100th year. Marietta was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Giovanni and son-in-laws, Ferdinando and Ray. Survived by her children; Salvatore (Pina), Carlo (Maria), Lina (Pasquale) Mansueto, Maria (Ferdinando) Naso, Rosa (Carlo) Felicella, Tina (Ray) Fleming and Sina (Tony) Felicella, 25 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. All of us loved her profoundly. Marietta’s family, friends and neighbours have lost a remarkable, loving person who cared deeply for all of us. She was the Matriarch of our family, our foundation, our Queen. Her home was our Sunday meeting place, where the families would gather and enjoy stories, food and each other. This tradition will be sorely missed. She will always be remembered for her mouth watering pasta, her amazing freshly baked bread, the stories of the old country and her love of teaching and playing an Italian card game. She taught all the grandchildren and great grandchildren to play and she rarely lost a game, right to the end. Our family has been truly blessed with our angel Marietta, we have been so lucky to have her in our life for so long. The memories shall live within us and our children forever. Rest in peace, we love you. Visitation between 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5th at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, B.C. Prayers will be offered at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1450 Delta Ave., Burnaby, B.C. Followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 6th. Entombment Ocean View Abbey. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations in Marietta’s memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the charity of your choice.
